Account Director

We are seeking our next change agent who will provide client leadership and is the ultimate leader of client relationships focused on our clients who market and sell data platform products and services (database, data warehouse, big data, business intelligence, cloud/hybrid data platform, etc.) to business and technical audiences. The ideal Account Director is a highly motivated, collaborative, and outgoing oriented leader who is likable with clients, provides strategic recommendations to client challenges and can effectively lead our engagement teams.

Core Responsibilities:

Provide Account Leadership

  • Work with clients to uncover business needs and objectives, craft appropriate strategies, and identify/implement solutions to help achieve client goals.
  • Has a broad spectrum of understanding across Creative, Marketing and Technology offerings.
  • Creates and interprets effective analysis to support marketing strategy and technology enabled recommendations.
  • Develops broad customer expertise from a pains, challenges and needs perspective.
  • Meets with Account Team on a regular basis to monitor client activity, growth opportunities and profitability by project as well as to develop and execute account plans.

Business Development Leadership

  • Actively pursue new projects from existing client contacts through status calls and/or regular face-to-face meetings – recognizing that time with clients is the key to driving new opportunities.
  • Achieves sales quota accountabilities and underlying activity cadence to support pipeline health.
  • Has a broad spectrum of understanding across Creative, Marketing, Business and Technology offerings by Indigo Slate (expectations: Understand clients' business and generate new ideas to enhance client performance)
  • Work with delivery team leads to develop new client sales proposals and pitches and help members of the Client Services team on their pitches.
  • Manage SalesForce pipeline activities as well as help update, track and monitor the sales pipeline for the Account Team
  • Regularly meet, engage and work with clients to determine business challenges, needs and objectives (expectation: spend more time with clients than in the office).
  • Develops multi-tiered client relationships and ties through trust and creditability (expectations: always be expanding beyond our current contacts in the account)
  • Keeps apprised of client products/services/market developments that may be relevant to the team

Team Leadership

  • Manages a team of Account Managers and Account Coordinators who manage and execute day to day management of clients and projects.
  • Support AM/AC with building relationships internally for projects
  • Meet with team members on a regular basis to monitor client activity, growth opportunities and profitability by project as well as to develop and execute account plans. (your office hours approach could be a key element to support this).
  • Reviews Proposals, Pitches, Estimates, and Statements of Work, providing input and insight to team members.
  • Foster teamwork, creativity, empathy and a sense of ownership through coaching and mentoring to Account Managers and Account Coordinators
  • Help foster an environment of ideation and continuous improvement with the team to help the team grow and expand both as individuals and in working together to deliver amazing solutions.
  • Reviews Program Plans, Proposals, Pitches, Estimates, and Statements of Work, providing input and insight to the team members

Engagement Leadership

  • Identify ways to ensure, maintain and improve account or project profitability.
  • Work within the organization to help optimize project processes and deliverables.
  • Maintains or improve account profitability.

Contribute to the Organization

  • Applying leadership in defining new offerings and/or capabilities needed to complement existing offerings.
  • Identify new account strategies and approaches to benefit both our clients and our organization.

Required Experience:

  • Dynamic leadership skills that can be applied to the internal team and clients.
  • Related industry experience, preferably professional services, either in creative or marketing services experience at an advertising or marketing agency or client company or product management at a client company.
  • Demonstrated track record of client relationship development and service
  • Proven experience in managing teams working cross-functionally within an organization
  • Strong experience in working with customers in retail or B2C sector, account management, technology solutions, client/campaign strategy, and product marketing/management.
  • Strong interpersonal/communication skills
  • Advanced verbal and written skills, and analytical thinking skills
  • College degree required
